This Privacy Policy explains how TaterTapps LLC ("TaterTapps," "Company," "we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the Author AI mobile application, related websites, and online services (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described below.

SECTION 1 – INFORMATION WE COLLECT

A. Information you provide directly

  • Account details you choose to give us (for example, username, e-mail address).
  • Content you create or upload (stories, comments, profile images).
  • Payment information processed by the relevant app-store provider; we do not store your full card details.

B. Information collected automatically

  • Device data (model, operating system, language, time zone, unique identifiers).
  • Usage data (features used, taps, screens viewed, session length, crash logs).
  • IP address and coarse location (country or region).

C. Cookies and similar tracking

The Service itself does not set cookies in the mobile app, but third-party SDKs and our public website may use cookies or local storage for analytics and advertising. You can block or delete cookies in your device or browser settings.

D. Third-party analytics and advertising tools that may collect data (examples)

  • Google / Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, Cloud Messaging)
  • Facebook / Meta Audience Network and App Events
  • RevenueCat (subscription management)

Each third-party provider processes data under its own privacy terms.

SECTION 2 – HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

  • Provide, operate, and improve the Service.
  • Personalise content such as story recommendations.
  • Monitor and enforce community guidelines.
  • Process subscriptions, verify purchases, and detect fraud.
  • Send transactional messages (e-mail or push notifications) you request, such as verification e-mails, password resets, or account alerts.
  • Conduct research and analytics to understand use of the Service.
  • Comply with legal obligations and protect the rights, safety, and property of TaterTapps, our users, and others.

SECTION 3 – SHARING AND DISCLOSURE

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only:

  • With service providers that perform services on our behalf (hosting, analytics, support, payment processing) and who are bound by confidentiality and data-protection obligations.
  • With other users when you post content or reviews in the Author AI community—your username and any public profile details you choose to include will be visible.
  • If required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, or property.
  • With your consent or at your direction.

If TaterTapps undergoes a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, we will give notice before your information is transferred and becomes subject to a different policy.

SECTION 4 – INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS

We are based in the United States and use global cloud infrastructure. When we transfer personal data across borders, we rely on legally recognised transfer mechanisms such as Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision, and we take reasonable steps to protect the data.

SECTION 5 – YOUR RIGHTS

Your privacy rights depend on where you live, but may include:

  • Access to the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Deletion or anonymisation of your data.
  • Portability of certain information to another service.
  • Objection to, or restriction of, our processing.
  • Withdrawal of any consent you previously gave.

SECTION 6 – CHILDREN'S PRIVACY (COPPA)

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If we learn that we have collected such information in error, we will delete it promptly. Parents who believe their child has provided personal data may contact us at the address above.

SECTION 7 – COMMUNITY GUIDELINES AND MODERATION

The in-app community allows users to publish stories and post reviews or comments. By participating you agree that you will:

  • Follow all applicable laws and refrain from infringing intellectual-property rights.
  • Not post content that is hateful, harassing, sexually explicit involving minors, or otherwise prohibited by our Terms & Conditions.
  • Respect other users' privacy.

TaterTapps may remove content, suspend accounts, or take any action deemed necessary to protect the community. Repeat or egregious offenders may be permanently banned. Users can flag content for review; we aim to review most reports within 48 hours.

SECTION 8 – SECURITY

We use technical and organisational measures designed to protect information (for example, encryption in transit, access controls, and continuous monitoring). No system is 100 percent secure; use the Service at your own risk.

SECTION 9 – SUBSCRIPTIONS AND PRICING

Pricing is set by country or region and may change at any time. Your store will always display the current price before you confirm a purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple ID, Google Play, or other applicable account settings. Refunds are handled by the applicable store under its policies.

SECTION 10 – THIRD-PARTY LINKS AND SERVICES

The Service may contain links to external sites or integrate third-party SDKs. We do not control the privacy practices of those third parties and encourage you to review their policies.

SECTION 11 – CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material we will provide notice in the app or by other appropriate means. The effective date at the top of the policy shows when the latest version took effect.

SECTION 13 – JURISDICTION-SPECIFIC NOTICES

California (CCPA and CPRA)

  • You have the right to know what categories of personal information we have collected, the purpose, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it.
  • You may request deletion or correction of personal data and ask us not to "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under California law. We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration.
  • Designated request methods: e-mail the address above with "California Privacy Request" in the subject line.

Canada (PIPEDA)

  • You have the right to access, correct, and challenge the accuracy of personal information we hold.
  • Complaints may be filed with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

European Union / European Economic Area and United Kingdom (GDPR / UK GDPR)

  • TaterTapps LLC is the data controller.
  • Legal bases for processing include performance of a contract, legitimate interests, and, where required, consent.
  • You may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

Australia (Privacy Act 1988)

If you are dissatisfied with our response to a privacy request you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

New Zealand (Privacy Act 2020)

You may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of New Zealand.

Japan (Act on the Protection of Personal Information)

You may request disclosure or correction of retained personal data under Articles 33-35 of the Act.

Singapore (Personal Data Protection Act)

  • You may withdraw consent at any time; doing so may limit your ability to use certain features.
  • Complaints may be made to the Personal Data Protection Commission.

South Africa (POPIA)

  • You have the right to access and correct personal information and to object to processing for direct marketing.
  • Complaints may be submitted to the Information Regulator (South Africa).

Virginia (VCDPA), Colorado (CPA), Connecticut (CTDPA), Utah (UCPA)

  • You have rights to access, delete, obtain a copy of your data, and opt out of targeted advertising.
  • If we refuse your request, you may appeal by replying to our denial within 30 days.

We will honour requests from any jurisdiction to the extent required by applicable law.
